The Heart of Green Leaf Early Learning
Located near the CBD of Richmond, bordering Richmond School, you will find a very special place for children, Green Leaf Early Learning.
The centre origins are from a very successful ECE programme, Paula’s Preschool, which proudly operated in the Nelson/Tasman region for 30 years. With a new team and new management in place, the journey began to give a new fresh outlook on ECE. Green Leaf Early Learning was created.
The name means so much more than just a title for an Early Learning Centre. The name, logo and philosophy has the following meaning, ‘New Beginnings’. Our aim is to build strong bonds with each new family so that the centre is better connected to the wider community.
Green Leaf Early Learning has taken a different approach to Early Childhood Education. Building off the philosophy of Educator Paula Holder, a leader of ECE in the Nelson for 30 years, Green Leaf Early Learning takes a balanced approach to a child’s learning journey. Research shows children respond well to structure, giving them a sense of belonging. As children grow, their needs expand. New challenges and experiences are introduced to support a child’s ongoing development. A balanced approach of routines, values, respect play a huge influence in the day to day operation at Green Leaf Early Learning. We have created at programme where Teachers have passion, and child thrive.
Green Leaf Early Learning is a place where children become confident, capable learners. Children are encouraged to take risks, absorb and share knowledge, have respect for themselves and others, while having fun and being themselves. Our teachers recognise all children have massive potential, and their aim is to provide an environment of warmth and support.
A visit to Green Leaf Early Learning and you will quickly realise why ‘Green Leaf’ is the ideal name. Children have access to an interactive playground that has taken 21 years to develop, encompassing huge trees that give the centre an attractive ‘leafy environment. Weaving through the trees is a purpose-built bike track, playhouse, fort with a slide, climbing wall, cargo net, and a rope swing. When you walk through the front gate, there is plenty of action. Children have a lot of choices.
Quietly removed from the over 2 play space, is the Green Leaf’s under 2 area. The play-space is specifically designed for under 2’s as their needs are more delicate. Infants and toddlers are at different stages to those children nearing the age of 5, so with that in mind, having their own separate space is vital. For children under the age of two, they need to feel safe, so they can explore with confidence, learn at their own pace. There is a strong belief within the teaching team the centre has created the ideal environment for all ages.
